ARRIVAL:

School begins promptly at 7:55.  Students must report to the office for a late slip if they are not on time.

ABSENCES:

Regular attendance is of utmost importance. When a child is absent, it is the child's responsibility to make up any assignments the teacher feels is necessary. It is sometimes very difficult for a child to grasp a new concept that may have been missed, consequently, any regular attendance is encouraged. Please review the Chester County School System "Attendance Policies and Procedures for Excused/Unexcused Absences. "

If your child is going to be absent, you must contact the school before 8:00 AM if at all possible. . You will be asked to state a reason for the absence. It is requested that the child be free of fever and symptoms for 24 hours before returning to school. This is in the best interest of all students.

 BOOKSTORE:

There is a “NO CHARGE” policy for the bookstore. Students must pay for items purchased from the bookstore as they receive them. The bookstore is open from 7:30 AM -7:55 AM. Items for sale in the bookstore include: pencils, crayons, paper, notebooks, erasers, glue, folders, and some novelty items on occasion.

HOLIDAYS:

Balloons and/or flowers that are sent to school for a child will not be allowed on the bus. Arrangements should be made to pick up your child after school that day.

BUS RIDERS:

Bus riders will be dismissed to the appropriate loading zones on 3 bells. Late bus riders will report to the gym on the third bell. They will remain there, with teacher supervision, until buses arrive. All bus riders should review the "School Bus Safety Rules" and "Bus Safety Procedures" you receive the first day of school.

CAR RIDERS:

Car Riders shall be dropped off and picked up each morning at the EAST Entrance (baseball field side).  Do not drop off or expect to pick up students at any other entrance unless students are being picked after 4 p.m.  After school programs and activities may make other arrangements.

CONFERENCES:

If you wish to speak with your child's teacher, please schedule an appointment. To maximize instructional time, please do not interrupt class time.

CUSTODY:

The school should be notified if there are custody restrictions regarding your child. The proper documents should be brought to the school office.

DISCIPLINE:

Students are encouraged to display good conduct at all times. School personnel endeavor to use positive methods in guiding behavior. Any faculty or staff member is given the responsibility of correcting any misbehavior. Discipline methods, administered with concern for the child, are used following counseling with the child to be certain he/she understands the reason for the disciplinary action.

Each teacher will implement his/her own discipline system in the classroom to include rules, consequences and rewards. Each teacher will inform you of the specifics of his/her plan.

Referrals to the principal's office will follow the Code of Discipline Handbook K-8 guidelines in determining appropriated actions to take. Disciplinary actions include but are not limited to: conference with student, conference with parents, corporal punishment, isolation, loss of privileges, in-school suspension, out-of- school suspension, and expulsion.

Misbehavior on the bus is reported to the principal's office by the bus driver. A form of misconduct is turned in by the driver. The principal follows established guidelines to determine the disciplinary action for misbehavior on the bus. Some offenses result in immediate suspension from riding the bus.

Please review the Board Policies related to "Zero Tolerance Offenses" and 'Tobacco Free Schools" as well as the "Code of Discipline Handbook K-8."

EARLY CHECKOUT:

If no reason is given, it will automatically be unexcused. The office staff will call the child's room via the intercom for the child to come to the office. If you know ahead of time that an early checkout will be necessary, please let the teacher know. An excessive number of early checkouts should be avoided.

All faculty and staff are required to wear an identification badge at all times. Also, visitors are required to stop by the office and sign in, get a visitor’s badge to wear while in the building, sign out, and turn in the visitor’s badge. This policy is in effect from 7:55-2:50.
