Beta Convention Code of Conduct

Knowing that any organization is judged largely by the behavior of its individual members, we who attend the Junior Beta Club Convention agree that our registering at the State Convention constitutes our subscribing to the following rules, which compromise the Code of Conduct.

Rule 1: Each sponsor is responsible for each and every one of his/her students. Therefore students must keep their Sponsor informed of their whereabouts at all times. Be in groups of at least 4 when out of the room. We will have times to check back with a sponsor. Be on time.

Rule 2: Betas registered at the Convention should be present for all scheduled meetings and on time. Sponsors should know where you are at all times. When we leave our rooms to go to sessions do not go back to your room.

Rule 3: Curfew is promptly at 11:00 P.M. unless the Council Chairman announces otherwise. This means in your own room and respectfully quiet. Remember you have to be up, dressed, and cheerful the next morning for breakfast.

Rule 4: Members may visit other members’ rooms only with the sponsor’s knowledge and approval. Girls are not to be in boys’ rooms period. Boys are not to be in girls’ rooms period. Unannounced room checks by sponsors are possible.

Rule 5: No alcoholic beverages or drugs in any form shall be possessed by anyone at this State Beta Convention. Clothing which advertises sex, drugs, or alcohol will not be permitted.

Rule 6: All registered Betas are expected to wear official name badges at all times.

Rule 7: Each registered Beta is expected to display and exert leadership qualities in a responsible manner, which will lead to the organized success of this Convention. Betas should conduct themselves in such a manner that their actions will reflect favorably on the school and the community and all of those responsible for providing the student with this opportunity. Never leave the hotel grounds without your sponsors.

Rule 8: Do not make any phone calls from your room! Use the pay phones in the lobby.

Rule 9: Damages to room or expenses will be the responsibility of individual students.

Rule 10: Broke rules or inappropriate behavior will result in dismissal from the club. Use good common sense.

We agree that any violation of these rules subjects our entire chapter to being sent home and al honors and awards forfeited. Serious misconduct on our part shall be reported to our Principal and our parents, who shall be advised that we are barred from participating in future Beta Conventions, and shall constitute grounds for the cancellation of our school’s charter of the National Junior Beta Club. Parents will be called to come and get you.
