August - December

Make sure that your are meeting graduation requirements and college admission requirements. | |

Fill out college applications. Watch out for deadlines. | |
|
Visit colleges that you are interested in attending. Narrow your college list to no more than 5 schools. | |
|
Request catalogs and admission information. | |
|
Take or retake ACT or SAT. | |
|
Begin asking teachers and counselors for letters of recommendation to include with scholarship and admission applications. | |
|
Obtain financial aid applications from your guidance office or college choice. |
January-May
|
Apply for financial aid using FAFSA form as soon after January 1 as possible. Parents need to have income tax returns prepared early. | |
|
Request that your seven semester transcript be sent to the colleges you have applied to. | |
|
Submit any financial aid forms and documentation as required by your college choice. | |
|
Look for Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail. This confirms your federal financial aid information as reported on the FAFSA form. |
