Make sure that your are meeting graduation requirements and college admission requirements.

Fill out college applications.  Watch out for deadlines.

Visit colleges that you are interested in attending.  Narrow your college list to no more than 5 schools.

Request catalogs and admission information.

Take or retake ACT or SAT.

Begin asking teachers and counselors for letters of recommendation to include with scholarship and admission applications.

Obtain financial aid applications from your guidance office or college choice. 

Apply for financial aid using FAFSA form as soon after January 1 as possible.  Parents need to have income tax returns prepared early.

Request that your seven semester transcript be sent to the colleges you have applied to.

Submit any financial aid forms and documentation as required by your college choice.

Look for Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail.  This confirms your federal financial aid information as reported on the FAFSA form.
